Incredible and rare, this silk gown has survived for over 170 years. Circa 1840s, it is a two piece dress, bodice and skirt. It is a very lightweight silk taffeta in a lovely champagne color with slightly darker stripes.
The bodice is lined and boned in the front with hook and eye closures down the back. The skirt is unlined with hook and eye closures on the side. There is a single, deep pocket.
There are small hooks and eyes at each cuff. The sleeves are very narrow and slim-fitting with small, tight cuffs.
The bust is padded with two round pads sewn in between the lining and the outer silk.
It is completely hand sewn.

16" length
Skirt:
28" waist (worn high on the torso)
43" long
This is a very old garment, and is therefore delicate and should be handled with care. Overall the condition is quite good for a piece this old, but there are some flaws to note:
