La Sportiva creates their Helixir Shell Jacket as a lightweight, highly durable waterproof shell for big wall climbing and exposed mountain objectives. Their Spectra fiber uses a cut-resistant Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene yarn that provides an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio. A high-performance membrane and three-layer waterproof construction help protect against wet weather while maintaining the durability needed for rock routes. The hood uses an elastic opening and is built to fit over a climbing helmet for full-coverage protection. Articulated elbows and shoulders support freedom of movement during reaches, belays, and technical climbing. Two chest pockets use YKK AquaGuard water-repellent zippers for accessible storage in variable conditions. Fully taped seams, adjustable cuffs, an elastic waist, and a 20,000mm water column rating round out a protective shell made for demanding vertical terrain.
